DENVER, Colo. (August 27, 2009) - Leading sock manufacturer Fox River and the HERA Women’s Cancer Foundation, a non-profit organization that raises funds for ovarian cancer research and awareness, will launch a month-long “Sock Ovarian Cancer” promotion on September 1, 2009 to kick off Ovarian Cancer Awareness month. With this promotion, HERA and Fox River hope to raise awareness of ovarian cancer symptoms and ultimately increase early diagnosis. Johns Hopkins University reports that one in 57 women will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer this year. With early detection, more than 90 percent survive, yet currently only 24 percent of ovarian cancer is caught while still in the early stages.
