Coach’s Eye, developed by TechSmith, provides the opportunity for coaches, parents and athletes to analyze a competitor’s form and technique across a multitude of sports and activities. The user records the athlete either within the app or through the chosen device’s video camera function and receives instant feedback through slow-motion playback and drawing tools. Coach’s Eye allows the user to compare videos side-by-side and share with coaches, parents and the Coach’s Eye community.
“We are excited about our new partnership with Coach’s Eye,” USATF CEO Max Siegel said. “One of our missions as an organization is to grow the sport of track and field. Coach’s Eye not only enables our athletes to improve and compete successfully on the international stage, but this new partnership allows future Olympians and World Champions to put themselves side-by-side with the best in the world.”
Courtesy of the partnership with USA Track & Field, athletes can compare themselves against the best. With the initial rollout including the likes of Olympic champions Allyson Felix and Ashton Eaton and World champion David Oliver, athletes of all ages and abilities can compare and learn from the best Team USA has to offer. More videos from elite Team USA athletes will be available in the coming months.
"Hard work and technique are an integral part of my success," said Allyson Felix, 200 meter Olympic champion. "Coach’s Eye is an innovative way for anyone to gain the competitive edge by studying the performances of elite athletes and translate that to their performances."
This is the first time Coach’s Eye has been available with videos for download from elite professional athletes. To celebrate the partnership, Coach’s Eye will be on sale in the App Store for only $1.99 through July 2nd, 2014.
"Technical events like the hurdles require film study like what is available through Coach’s Eye," said David Oliver, 2013 world outdoor 110m hurdle champion. "For me, I'm glad I can help develop other up-and-coming hurdlers."
With the partnership announcement occurring in conjunction with the USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, fans will have the unique opportunity to experience the app videos and athletes on site. Inspired by their favorite athletes competing in front of them, track and field aficionados can then use the app to improve their own technique and form against the world’s best.
Coach’s Eye with USATF athlete videos is currently only available on the App Store for iPhone and iPad. The Coach’s Eye app is also on Google Play and the Windows Store, with plans to offer USATF videos in the near future.
