Amos for 500 m - NEWCASTLE (GBR): Nijel Amos and Aries Merritt are among the top international stars taking part in the Great North CityGames at Newcastle-Gateshead on September 9. Amos will race over 500m where he will face a line-up including fellow 800m specialist Guy Learmonth and 400m specialists Martyn Rooney, Dwayne Cowan and Rabah Yousif while Merritt faces teammate Jarrett Eaton and former European indoor champion Petr Svoboda in the 110m hurdles.

Seventeen time NCAA Champion Ed Cheserek has signed a long term agreement with Skechers Performance, it was announced on BusinessWire today. Ed Cheserek is one of the most popular athletes on the collegiate circuit and much has been made of what he will do post NCAA. There had been much scuttlebutt about where @KingCheserek would land, and it is in Manhattan Beach, headquarters of Skechers Performance.

Last Year’s Runner-Up Fate Tola returns, Abebech Afework and Sara Hall boost Frankfurt field - Fate Tola missed victory at the Mainova Frankfurt Marathon last year by a hair’s breadth. The 2016 runner-up will be back this time to the race where she ran her first marathon as a German citizen, becoming the fourth fastest ever on the national rankings with her time of 2:25:42 and winning the national title with that second place. Among her rivals on October 29 will be her former Ethiopian compatriot Abebech Afewok and Sara Hall of the USA.

Arevalo and de Sena - MONACO (MON): World champion Eider Arevalo of Colombia is also winner of the 2017 IAAF Race Walking Challenge with 36 points. Second Brazilian bronze medalist from London Caio Bonfim 25 and third Andres Chocho of Ecuador also 25. In the fourth place South African record holder Lebogang Shange with 20, he was also fourth in London. Canadian Evan Dunfee takes fifth 19, the same score for 6th placer Perseus Karlstrom from Sweden.
