The TC 10 Mile is the site of both the men’s and women’s championships and features a prize purse of $74,500, which includes $12,000 each for the first place male and female along with a $10,000 equalizer bonus. The women’s race will start prior to the men’s championship as determined by the equalizer. Start time for the men is approximately 7:09 a.m.
Vega has a best in the 10 mile of 47:43 and was second at the 2010 men’s championship. He is returning to competition after an extended hip injury during 2011 and early 2012.
Carlson, who is preparing to run the ING New York City Marathon on Nov. 4, has run 48:08 in the 10 mile. Rombough has posted 48:41 in the distance.
Making his debut as a professional runner and at the 10 mile distance will be Peterson, who joined Team USA Minnesota in August. He graduated in June from the University of California, Davis, where his collegiate career included track times of 13:41 in the 5000 meters and 28:50 in the 10,000.
Competing in the female field will be Peyton, who finished sixth at the 10 mile championships in 2011. She has a best in the distance of 55:09.
In addition to the 10 Mile Championships, the Medtronic TC 10 Mile will have 8,500 participants on a course that begins near Mall of America Field in downtown Minneapolis, covers the last 7 miles of the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon course, and finishes at the State Capitol grounds in St. Paul. The marathon starts at 8:00 a.m.
