Maiyo, who posted a personal best of 62:33 despite hot conditions and a criterion loop course composed of continuous hairpin turns, finished 15th overall, the highest finish by an American male since Dathan Ritzenhein's bronze finish in 2009. At Sunday's US 10-Mile Championships in the Twin Cities of Minnesota, Alisha Williams (adidas/BRC) challenged for the lead throughout the race with 2012 US Olympians Janet Ceberon-Bawcom, Kara Goucher and Jullie Culley. Williams ended up third behind Cheberon-Bawcom's win and 12-seconds off of Goucher with a personal best time of 54:08. Wendy Thomas (adidas/BRC) and Christie Foster (adidas/BRC) finished 11th and 14th, respectively. In a deep men's field, Robert Cheseret (US Army/WCAP) was hampered by the 30-degree temperatures and finished 22nd. In Monday's US Women's 10k Championships hosted by Tufts Health Plan 10k For Women in Boston, MA, Mattie Suver (Brooks) ran to a personal best of 32:59.4 to take 7th place, her highest finish in a US championship.
