Heather Kampf, Meghan Peyton to Compete at Drake Relays April 23-24; Kampf Defends Title at Grand Blue Mile; B.A.A. Mile and Mt. SAC Results

Minneapolis/St. Paul – April 22, 2015 – Team USA Minnesota’s Heather Kampf and Meghan Peyton will compete on the track at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, with Kampf running the 800 meters on April 24 and Peyton in the 5000 meters on April 23.  As part of the Drake Relays week of festivities, Kampf defended her title at the Grand Blue Mile on April 21. At the Hy-Vee Night at the Drake Relays on Friday, Kampf will be among the top invited athletes who will compete in the women’s 800 meters which will be held at 8:00 p.m.  She has a best in the distance of 2:00.04.  Peyton will run the 5000m at the Drake Relays Distance Carnival on Thursday with the open women’s race at 8:40 p.m. on the Blue Oval track.  She has run 15:41.1 in the 5000.

Returning to the Grand Blue Mile for the fifth time, Kampf won the women’s professional mile race with a time of 4:35.75 on a blustery and cool evening.  Last year she set the course record of 4:32.62.

Race Results – Mt. SAC Relays and B.A.A. Invitational Mile

Jon Peterson competed in the top heat of the men’s 1500 meters at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif., on April 17 and finished eighth with a time of 3:44.90, just 2 seconds off his personal best.  Next up for Peterson will be the Payton Jordan Invitational on May 2 where he will run the 5000 meters.

At the B.A.A. Invitational Mile in Boston on April 18, Heather Kampf was second in 4:37.0 and Gabriele Grunewald was fifth in 4:43.4.  The seventh annual mile race was held two days before the Boston Marathon.
