In Jacksonville, Simbassa stayed in the lead pack and ran with confidence throughout the race, including as the field narrowed down to five men in the last mile on the Hart Bridge. His time at the 39th annual Gate River Run – which hosts the USATF 15k Championships - was 45:00. It was his highest finish in a national championship since he became a professional runner and joined Team USA Minnesota after graduating from the University of Oklahoma last summer.
Simbassa will now turn his attention to the outdoor track while Kampf will compete this spring on the track and in road miles as both prepare for the U.S. Olympic Track Trials that will be held July 1-10 in Eugene.
