Heather Kampf to Compete at Sir Walter Miler Aug. 5; Rob Molke, Jon Peterson to Run MDRA 15k Aug. 7; Biya Simbassa Wins Torchlight 5k on July 20

Minneapolis/St. Paul – July 27, 2016 – Team USA Minnesota’s Heather Kampf will be among the elite competitors at the Sir Walter Miler that will be held on Aug. 5 at Meredith College in Raleigh, North Carolina.  That same weekend, Rob Molke and Jon Peterson will run in the MDRA (Minnesota Distance Running Association) 15k that will be held Aug. 7 at Crosby Farm Park in St. Paul. Kampf has returned from Europe where she most recently finished second in the mile at the Morton Games in Dublin on July 22.  Her time was 4:27.33.  The elite women’s race at the third annual Sir Walter Miler on Friday will start on the track at 9:05 p.m. (Eastern time).

In St. Paul, Molke and Peterson will begin their fall marathon build-up by running in the MDRA 15k which starts at 8:00 a.m. in the park.  The race is part of the USA Track & Field Minnesota’s Team Circuit.  Although Molke has run 1:03:27 in the half marathon, this will be his debut at the 15k distance.  Peterson has posted 45:49 for the distance.

Torchlight 5k Results

Biya Simbassa won the Twin Cities Orthopedics Torchlight 5k in downtown Minneapolis on July 20.  His time on a hot and steamy summer evening was 14:54.  The 5k, which was a Life Time Run event, had almost 4,000 participants.
