Cheever’s time was 16:26 with Peyton close behind in 16:31. This was Cheever’s first time at the Freihofer’s race, while Peyton was making her third appearance, having finished sixth in 2016 and ninth in 2011. Over 2,700 women participated in this year’s event.
Next up for Peyton will be the Portland Track Festival on Saturday, June 10, where she will race the 10,000 meters on the track at Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon. Cheever’s next competition will be the USATF Outdoor Championships that will be held in Sacramento on June 22-25 where she is entered in the steeplechase.
