Minneapolis/St. Paul – Sept. 6, 2016 – Four Team USA Minnesota distance runners will compete in their home state on Sept. 11 with Heather Kampf, Meghan Peyton and Biya Simbassa competing in the Minnesota Mile in Duluth, and Rob Molke running the City of Lakes Half Marathon in Minneapolis.

Rainsberger Breaks US HS 3k Outdoor Record At World Champs - (Bydgoszcz, Poland) Katie Rainsberger finished a solid 7th in the 3,000-meters at the IAAF World U20 (formerly World Junior) Championships in Bydgoszcz, Poland, on Wednesday to post the fastest outdoor mark ever by an American high school girl.

Rainsberger's time of 9:00.62 bettered the previous outdoor all-time mark of 9:08.6 set by Lynn Bjorklund in 1975.  Only Alexa Efraimson has a better absolute high school mark of 9:00.16 set on an indoor track in 2014, with Rainsberger pushing early professional Mary Cain to #3 with her 2013 indoor time of 9:02.10.

Minneapolis/St. Paul – July 27, 2016 – Team USA Minnesota’s Heather Kampf will be among the elite competitors at the Sir Walter Miler that will be held on Aug. 5 at Meredith College in Raleigh, North Carolina.  That same weekend, Rob Molke and Jon Peterson will run in the MDRA (Minnesota Distance Running Association) 15k that will be held Aug. 7 at Crosby Farm Park in St. Paul.

Kampf has returned from Europe where she most recently finished second in the mile at the Morton Games in Dublin on July 22.  Her time was 4:27.33.  The elite women’s race at the third annual Sir Walter Miler on Friday will start on the track at 9:05 p.m. (Eastern time).

Team USA Minnesota Starts Search for New Head Coach; Dennis Barker Steps Down after 15 Years with the Team

Minneapolis/St. Paul – July 19, 2016 – Team USA Minnesota, a training group for professional distance runners based in Minneapolis/St. Paul, has begun a search for a new head coach.  The position is available given the resignation this month of its long-time coach, Dennis Barker.

Since 2001, the group has developed an Olympian and 24 national champions in distances that include the 1500m, 3000m, and 10,000m on the track; mile, 10k, 15k, half marathon, 25k and marathon on the roads; and 4k, 8k and 10k cross country.  It has also achieved 74 top three finishes in U.S. Championship events and placed athletes on 28 world teams.
