B.A.A. women three-peat while three USATF Club XC newcomers take home open titles in Tallahassee

TALLAHASSEE, Florida -- The women of the Boston Athletic Association showed their dominance once again, taking home the women’s open title at the 2016 USATF Club Cross Country Championships at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee. In the open races, there were three new champions crowned in the final open championship of the 2016 season.

The Nike Cross Nationals is comprised of 8 Regional Qualifying meets and the National Finals in Portland.  The new Nationals course at Glendoveer Golf Course will offer athletes a premium, challenging championship venue for putting it all on the line.

In a wonderful day of cross country racing, Golden Gate Park became a celebration of all things cross country, as 1,922 cross country runners ran in five amazing races. Each with their own excitement, and each with their own drama.

The women's 6k master's race and Men's Masters' 8k (60 plus) and Men's Masters' 10k were thrilling! Sonja Friend-Uhl won in an upset in the first race of the day. In the second race, a huge field competed over the 8k course, with Rick Becker winning the overall title.

Hill and Bielaczyc Capture First Place Titles in 37th Annual Foot Locker Cross Country Championships West Regional

RACE HIGHLIGHTS:                      Annie Hill of Kalispell, Mont., and Garek Bielaczyc of Salt Lake City, Utah, won the Foot Locker Cross Country Championships (FLCCC) West Regional today. In the girls' race, Hill, a sophomore at Glacier High School and two-time FLCCC national qualifier, captured the West Regional title in 18:13. Kate Hunter, a junior at Provo High School in Provo, Utah, finished second in 18:14, and Olivia Hoj, a senior at Olympus High School in Salt Lake City, Utah, placed third in 18:22.

Bielaczyc, a senior at East High School and two-time FLCCC national qualifier, claimed the title in 15:22. Phillip Rocha of Azusa, Calif., and a senior at Arcadia High School, placed second in 15:28. Talon Hull of Ogden, Utah, and a junior at Weber High School, placed third in 15:33.

SAN FRANCISCO -- Saturday’s USATF Club Cross Country National Championships were nothing short of stunning, with an idyllic backdrop and stacked fields in every race as national championship contenders took to Golden Gate Park to see who reigned supreme. Individual national champions were crowned in open men’s 10 km and women’s 6 km races, as well as masters age group victors at 6 km, 8 km and 10 km distances.
