Runners will be challenged over 13 miles of rugged terrain on this volcanic Caribbean island - Brades, Montserrat – September 28, 2009 – The Montserrat Tourist Board (MTB), in collaboration with the Montserrat Volcano Observatory (MVO) and the Fittest Man Running Club, will host the first-ever Montserrat Volcano Half Marathon on December 5, 2009. The race will be one of the key events during the island’s annual carnival celebration, known as Festival, with proceeds from the event being donated to three local charities, Special Olympics, Meals on Wheels and the Golden Years Retirement Home.

Minneapolis/St. Paul - Sept. 22, 2009 - Two Team USA Minnesota distance runners - Jason Lehmkuhle and Katie McGregor - will be among the competitors at the 32nd Great Cow Harbor 10k in Northport, New York, on Sept. 26. The race has over 5,000 participants and is marked by its view of the Long Island Sound and downhill finish. The 10k starts at 8:30 a.m. (Eastern).

Tegenkamp, Yoder Begley win USA 5 km Championships

from USATF -- PROVIDENCE - Matt Tegenkamp (Portland, Ore.) and Amy Yoder Begley (Portland, Ore.) won the respective men's and women's titles Sunday at the USA 5 km Championships in Providence, R.I. Tegenkamp, the U.S. champion at 5,000 meters on the track won his first U.S. road title in 13:57, as Begley, the 2009 USA 10,000 meter champion on the track and USA 15 km champion ran 15:27 to add the 5 km title to her collection of 2009 crowns.

Hall, Ndereba Win 2009 ING Philadelphia Distance Run

PHILADELPHIA - (September 20, 2009) - The 32nd ING Philadelphia Distance Run, held Sunday morning on a clear sunny day, was highlighted by 26-year-old Ryan Hall's 1:01:52 victory and Kenya's Catherine Ndereba's remarkable seventh race crown in the women's race.

Home Katie McGregor to Compete at USA 5k Championships on Sept. 20; Jason Lehmkuhle Wins City of Lakes 25k on Sept. 13

Minneapolis/St. Paul - Sept. 16, 2009 - Team USA Minnesota's Katie McGregor will be among the competitors at the USA 5k Championships in Providence, R.I., on Sept. 20. The championship races for U.S. men and women are hosted by the CVS Caremark Downtown 5k, which is Rhode Island's largest running event. The 5k is at 11:15 a.m. (Eastern). In 2008, the winning time for men was 13:41 and the first female finisher posted 15:29.

McGregor most recently was a member of the U.S. team at the IAAF World Outdoor Championships in Berlin where she ran the 10,000 meters. During 2009, she has placed second at the USA 15k Championships in March and was third at the USA Outdoor Championships in the 10,000 in June. She has a best in the 5000 of 15:22.

City of Lakes 25k
Jason Lehmkuhle won the 28th annual City of Lakes 25k in Minneapolis on Sept. 13 with a time of 1:17:54, which set a Minnesota state record for 31-year-old men (the second place finisher at City of Lakes finished in 1:20:50). Earlier that same week on Labor Day, Lehmkuhle placed third in the USA 20k Championships in New Haven with a personal best time of 59:04.

Lehmkuhle is preparing to run the USA Men's Marathon Championship on Nov. 1, a race that will be held in conjunction with the ING New York City Marathon. Prior to that, he will compete at the Cow Harbor 10k on Sept. 26 and in the USA Men's 10 Mile Championship, held as part of the Medtronic Twin Cities 10 Mile, on Oct. 4.

The Bolder Dash 10k/5k
Two Team USA Minnesota distance runners will run in The Bolder Dash on Sept. 19. Antonio Vega will be in the 10k which starts at 8:30 a.m., and Kristen Nicolini Lehmkuhle will be in the 5k at 9:45 a.m. The event will be held at Lake Nokomis in Minneapolis and benefits Bolder Options, a non-profit organization that matches at-risk youth with adult mentors to run or bike together, as well as work on homework.

Vega most recently ran the New York City Half Marathon in August. Since May he has placed fifth at the USA 7 Mile Championships, 10th at the USA Men's 10k Championship and sixth at the USA 25k Championships. Nicolini Lehmkuhle placed sixth in the USA 20k Championships on Labor Day, and prior to that was fifth at the USA Women's 10 Mile Championship and eighth at the USA 7 Mile Championships.

Both athletes are using the Bolder Dash races as a final tune-up before running the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon on Oct. 4.
