INDIANAPOLIS - The 2009 USA Track & Field Annual Meeting began Thursday morning with the event's Opening Session at the Downtown Westin Hotel in Indianapolis. USATF Chairman and President, Stephanie Hightower welcomed approximately 1,000 volunteers, officials, coaches, athletes and administrators who chart the future of the sport.

Western Michigan University is in their final month of trying to raise $300,000 to reinstate the Men’s Cross Country and Track and Field programs. So far over $200,000 has been pledged.
Western Michigan is one of five Mid American Conference schools to drop men’s track and field in recent years. Track and field is the “oldest sport know to Mankind” and has the second highest number of participants of all high school sports but has been eliminated at a number of universities in the past last ten years.
from USATF - INDIANAPOLIS - Tyson Gay and Carmelita Jeter continued their sprint into history on Sunday at the Shanghai Golden Grand Prix in China.
Two-time world 100m medalist Tyson Gay, who has been hampered by a groin injury since before the World Championships, did not let that stop him today. He lowered his own American record in the men's 100 meters, clocking a blistering 9.69 seconds (+2.0mps).
