The XTERRA Point Mugu Trail Run on Sunday, Oct. 3 2010 will be the first of seven races on the 2010-11 SoCal Series schedule.
The Point Mugu event will feature an 18K course for advanced runners and a separate 11K course for less-experienced runners. Close to 400 runners are expected to participate, including many of the age-group champions from the 2009-10 XTERRA SoCal Series.
SoCal Series director Brennan Lindner said the Point Mugu race is a favorite among the Southern California runners because the course offers both technical trails and scenic views. What’s more, breakfast will be provided for all runners at the conclusion of the race.
SoCal is one of 10 regions across America that will host an XTERRA Trail Run Series during the 2010-11 season. The others are Alabama, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Long Island, North Carolina, Ohio, Philadelphia and Texas.
The SoCal Series was the most popular region last season, drawing more than 2,000 runners.
At the end of the 2010-11 season, the top age-group runners from the SoCal Series will receive a free entry to the 2011 XTERRA Trail Run National Championship. Three runners from last season’s SoCal Series went on to win national age-group championships in 2010: Jaxon Rickel, Mary Colburn and Sooki Raphael.
