Gwen having come off her fifth career win last month at the ITU World Triathlon London was well positioned to continue her dominance in the sport. “I am excited to capture this win in Chicago. Many of my family and friends were able to see me race for the first time,” said Gwen Jorgensen. “I could feel the support of not only my friends but also my ASICS family on the course. This helped me to stay focused and propelled me to the finish line for the win.” Gwen came out of the water 15th, close to the lead back. Gwen then fell back into the second pack for the entire bike section of the race. The lead pack worked hard and put over a minute on the second pack. She closed the gap by 33 seconds with three miles to go and then finally caught the leaders with a half mile to go and she never looked back. Gwen won the race in a time of 1:53.33.
