Presented by ASICS, the milestone 35th anniversary event will take place on Sunday, March 8 and is on-course to become the biggest gathering of runners in the marathon’s history; The Los Angeles Marathon is one of the top-five marathons in the country with thousands of participants traversing the world-renowned ‘Stadium to the Sea’ course, which tours iconic landmarks in Greater Los Angeles from Dodger Stadium to the Santa Monica Pier.

For tenacity, Worknesh Degefa was the star of the show in the 21st anniversary race of the Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon, a World Athletics Gold Label road race on Friday (24), the Ethiopian enduring mid-race physical problems to clock 2:19:38 and win the women’s race. But for sheer opportunism, debutants Olika Adugna of Ethiopia and Eric Kiptanui of Kenya carried the day, outwitting the tried and tested marathoners, to finish first and second in the men’s race, in 2:06:15 and 2:06:17.

Germany’s World champion in the women’s long jump, Malaika Mihambo, and an unusually strong men’s pole vault competition including the Olympic champion Thiago Braz, world record holder Renaud Lavillenie as well as the World bronze medallist Piotr Lisek are among the highlights for the INSTAF INDOOR which takes place in the Mercedes Benz Arena in Berlin on February 14.
