This year’s World Marathon Champions Lelisa Desisa and Ruth Chepngetich are the Marathon Runners of the Year. The runners from Ethiopia and Kenya respectively were honoured at the AIMS Best Marathon Runner (BMR) Gala in Athens tonight.

Pro runner and Pittsburgh-native Elaina Tabb to race her hometown streets; defending champion and course record holder Martin Hehir is back to claim his second title  - PITTSBURGH – Featuring pickles, pierogies and a cookie table, this year’s Pittsburgh-themed EQT Pittsburgh 10 Miler will welcome some of America’s fastest athletes including Pittsburgh-native Elaina Tabb and defending champion and event record holder Martin Hehir. The race, scheduled for Nov. 2, will feature a $25,000 guaranteed prize purse, including $5,000 for each race champion.

Brimin Misoi, the Kenyan who made headlines with an emphatic victory last year, will take pride of place on the start line for the 37th edition of the “Athens Marathon. The Authentic” on Sunday, November 10. Misoi ran the third fastest time ever of 2:10:56 on the renowned, tough course from the coastal town of Marathon to the heart of Athens.
