CEO Challenge Returning to USA Triathlon Age Group Nationals
February 1, 2008
From press release.
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (February 1, 2008) -- USA Triathlon is pleased to announce that its 2008 Age Group National Championships in Portland, Oregon on September 20 will include a CEO Challenge.
The CEO Tri Challenge will be a "race within a race" in which CEOs compete in the 1.5k swim, 40k bike, 10k run championship event. The CEOs will not be required to qualify at a regional event to attend the USAT Championship.
All CEOs will be competing for World Championship slots and the opportunity to compete in Gold Coast Australia in the fall of 2009. Two spots will go to male and female athletes 45-and-over and 44-and- under.
The program in Portland will include a four-day/three- night stay at the Marriot SpringHill Suites, an exclusive dinner with the pros, special status to avoid registration lines, and transportation to and from the Hagg Lake race site.
"We ran a small, successful CEO Triathlon Challenge in 2007 in Oregon and learned a great deal," stated Ted Kennedy, owner of CEO Challenges. "This year we have added accommodations for the group, busing to and from the race site, and a 'fast pass' for CEOs to speed through the registration and bike check-in process. We hope to have 15 CEOs take part in the event this year, and find out who are the Best CEO Triathletes in the USA!"
"The day after last year's event, Ted Kennedy and I started talking about the opportunities for 2008. I am very pleased that he was able to reposition this keystone USAT national event onto his busy CEO Challenges schedule," said USAT Senior Vice President for Marketing and Communications Tim Yount. "The CEOs will be treated to another super weekend of racing and activities."
A running camp in Boulder, Colo., co-hosted by CEO Challenges and five-time world triathlon champion Simon Lessing and Olympic running coach Darren De Reuck will take place April 4-7, 2008.
In 2008, over 120 CEOs are expected to compete in seven CEO Triathlon and CEO Ironman Challenge events. All events include entry to sold-out races, luxury accommodations, meals, VIP passes for CEOs and guests, and a charity contribution.
