Organisers of the Millrose Games have announced that Trayvon Bromell, the fastest man in the world over 100m this year, will lead a high-quality men’s 60m field for the World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold meeting on 29 January.

Bromell, the world indoor 60m champion in 2016, clocked a 100m PB of 9.77 in June this year, then won the US Olympic Trials in 9.80. In Nairobi in September, in what was his final race of the season, he improved his world-leading time to 9.76.

“This will be my first time at Millrose and I’m looking forward to something great,” said Bromell.

He will take on world 100m champion Christian Coleman and Jamaica’s 2016 Olympic 110m hurdles champion Omar McLeod. Coleman holds the world indoor 60m record at 6.34, while McLeod – a sub-10-second sprinter over 100m – has a 60m PB of 6.61.

Other top athletes so far announced for the Millrose Games include Olympic shot put champion Ryan Crouser, world shot put champion Joe Kovacs, Olympic 800m champion Athing Mu, Olympic pole vault champion Katie Nageotte and world indoor pole vault champion Sandi Morris.
